The definition of a True Social Portal-PeopleString

We all view social networks as a unique place where we can socialize with family, friends and just about anyone we may have an interest in. You join groups of your interest, play games, and converse in everyday conversation. Many people stay on social network sites for hours, as it is now used as a source of entertainment, appeasing those who may be bored; or those seeking intimate relationship. I personally enjoy social networks especially Facebook and Myspace because it gives me a chance to catch up with my family in Los Angeles, and they can catch up with me and mine as I reside in San Antonio. Viewing Pictures, smiley faces, friendly pokes, really can make your day and maybe sometimes break it.

I know this may sound a bit cheesy, however, if you have ever playes a SIMS game, you know that you have to do certain things for your SiM to be healthy and stay alive. Of course the eat, shower, and get entertained is obvious. The biggest thing the SIM needed was to SOCIALIZE with others and make friends. This is also true for humans, we need to socialize with others, or else we become dormant, and some become depressed.

The problem with social networks as I see it is, they tend to be over saturated with immaturity and just plain nonsense. Unless you are communicating with familiy as I do, you can become overwhelmed with a whole bunch of annoying strangers. Strangers that have underlying motives of why they want to communicate with you. If you are not careful, it can lead to a dangerous situation if you allow it to, because everyone on these social networks are not who they say they are.
